Information We Collect
Hue Codex collects the email address you submit when joining product updates. First name is optional. The signup form also records your consent to receive Hue Codex product updates and color tool emails.
When you use the contact form, Hue Codex receives the contact reason, reply email address, optional name, short summary, and the page links, message text, calculation inputs, accessibility context, or other details you choose to provide. The form also uses limited technical and security information needed to prevent automated abuse and deliver the message.
How We Use Email
We use update-list email addresses to send product updates, color tool announcements, and related workflow notes. You can unsubscribe from those emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in each message.
Contact-form email addresses and message details are used to review and reply to the selected request, investigate reproducible issues, improve Hue Codex, and protect the form from abuse. Sending a contact message does not add you to the product-update list.
Local image tools
Current Hue Codex image tools process selected images locally in your browser unless a tool explicitly says otherwise. Hue Codex does not upload local images for current image tools. Recent image samples and image palettes may store sampled color values, source labels, dimensions, or tool settings in your browser, but they do not store the original image file.
Local browser storage
Hue Codex may store recent colors, pinned colors, recent and pinned palettes, contrast pairs, gradients, image samples, exports, named tool presets, and other local workspace data in your browser so tools can preserve useful work between visits without requiring an account. This local workspace is stored on your device by your browser and is not sent to Hue Codex servers by the local workspace feature.
The Local Workspace page can export this browser data as a .huecodex.json file and import a compatible file back into the same or another browser. Anyone with access to that exported file can read the saved colors, presets, exports, and related notes inside it. You can clear Hue Codex local workspace data from the Local Workspace page, from any reset or clear controls provided in a tool, or by clearing Hue Codex site data, local storage, cookies, or browsing data in your browser settings.
Sharing and rich preview links
Changing tool inputs does not change the page address. On a clean tool page, Hue Codex may keep a temporary snapshot in that tab's browser history entry so a same-tab reload can recover recent edits. This tab-local snapshot is not a share link and is not sent to Hue Codex servers.
Copy Self-contained Link puts supported tool settings in the URL fragment. This link mode does not create a record on Hue Codex servers. It remains available when rich preview storage is unavailable.
When you explicitly create a rich preview link, Hue Codex sends the tool slug and serialized supported settings to Hue Codex servers and stores the canonical encoded state so a compact public link, read-only result page, and social preview image can resolve later. External sharing shortcuts first try this mode and clearly fall back to the self-contained link if it is unavailable. Rich preview links do not normally expire, but Hue Codex may disable or remove them when necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or service maintenance.
Rich preview records, embeds, and hosted social images do not include or store uploaded image files, filenames, image bytes, blob URLs, or data URLs. Current Hue Codex image tools continue to process selected images locally in your browser as described above; only supported settings and bounded derived color data can be shared. A shared link can be opened by anyone who receives it, so do not place sensitive or personal information in shareable tool settings.
Privacy choices
Hue Codex provides browser-level privacy controls for required storage, analytics, and marketing or personalized ads. Required storage keeps privacy choices, security behavior, essential site behavior, and local workspace features working. Your privacy choice may be stored in local storage or a first-party necessary cookie so it can be remembered. You can change your choices in this browser at any time.
Analytics
Hue Codex uses Google Analytics to understand site performance and basic interactions, such as page views, navigation clicks, signup outcomes, and color demo usage. Analytics events do not include your email address, first name, other intentionally submitted personal details, raw uploaded images, or raw local workspace data.
Site search runs in your browser against a downloaded index. Search analytics are limited to coarse interaction events, such as opening or closing search, receiving no results, or selecting a public resource; they may also include a query category, token count, timing bucket, and the selected resource identifier. Raw search queries—including any color values, CSS text, complete URLs, URL fragments, or encoded tool-state tokens pasted into search—are not sent in analytics.
Hue Codex uses Google Consent Mode for Analytics. In regions that require opt-in consent for analytics storage, Analytics storage is denied unless you allow Analytics. In other regions, Analytics may run by default where allowed, and you can turn it off by choosing required storage only. Depending on your choices and region, Google may process consent-mode measurement signals without setting Analytics cookies.
Advertising
Hue Codex does not require marketing or personalized advertising to use the site. If Google ads are added, personalized ads and marketing consent signals will stay off unless you allow marketing and personalized ads. Where advertising is shown without marketing consent, Hue Codex intends to request non-personalized ads when supported by the ad provider.
Cookies And Similar Technologies
Hue Codex may use standard browser storage, cookies, server logs, Google Analytics cookies, reCAPTCHA security cookies, or similar technologies to understand site performance, measure usage, reduce abuse, remember privacy choices, and keep the experience working reliably.
Service Providers
Email update signups are processed through EmailOctopus. Contact messages are delivered through the website hosting provider's email service. Google reCAPTCHA processes interaction and technical security signals on the contact page to help distinguish legitimate submissions from automated abuse. Hosting, Google Analytics, future advertising providers if added, and security providers may process limited data needed to operate the website.
Data Retention
We keep email signup information while you remain subscribed or while it is needed for compliance, security, or operational purposes. Contact messages and replies are retained only as long as reasonably needed to handle the request, maintain a useful issue record, prevent abuse, or meet legal and operational obligations. Rate limiting stores a one-way pseudonymous connection identifier for a bounded window rather than the message contents. Analytics logs may be retained in aggregate or pseudonymous form. Short-link settings are normally retained while a link remains active and do not expire by default, subject to the security, abuse-prevention, legal, and maintenance exceptions described above.
